I’m having a big party at my house to kick off football season, and I’m thinking about setting up a Bloody Mary bar. What do I need to have on hand?

What a great idea! Letting your guests make their own drinks is a good way to make sure everyone gets exactly what they want, and gets you out from behind the bar so you can enjoy yourself, too.
Believe it or not, you don’t need to spend a ton of money on ingredients to create Bloody Marys that everyone will love. Start with this basic list:
- Plain, unflavored vodka
- Spicy or flavored vodka (try bacon, cucumber, tomato, lemon, smoked salmon, or horseradish)
- Tomato juice or V8
- Portland Bloody Mary Mix
- Ice cubes, for serving
- A bar spoon or iced tea spoon
- A cocktail shaker or two
- Prepared horseradish
- Worcestershire sauce
- Hot sauce (go with your favorite)
- Lemon juice
- Olive and/or pickle juice
- Celery salt
- Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper
- Lemon wedges
- Lime wedges
- Pickle spears
- Celery stalks
- Bacon bits or pieces of cooked bacon
- Pickled peppers, green beans, mushrooms, etc.
- Cubed salami & cheese
- Blanched asparagus stalks
- Toothpicks or skewers
Feel free to customize this list according to your guests’ preferences and the space you have available. If you’ve learned anything from me up until now, it’s that when it comes to Bloody Marys, there are no wrong answers!
That ought to do it, Kick, you party animal. Let us know how it goes…or better yet, post your pics on Instagram for us to see.
